Cyphostemma mappia:
The “Mapou Tree” of Mauritius, off the coast of Madagascar. This species is probably an example of island gigantism being the second largest succulent plant after the baobab tree, which probably evolved in a similar habitat. With age, the leaves become more ovate but can keep their feathery appearance if the plant is kept root bound. The flowers make it clear that this visually different species is indeed part of the Cyphostemma family.
