This member of the Fouquieriaceae family was described by Townshend Stith Brandegee in 1909. It is found in the central to southern Mexico. It grows on the rocky hill-sides in well-drained grit with a little to some water and lots of sun. The stem will get 25 centimetres wide and reach four meters. The flowers are white.
