Mammillaria luethyi was discovered not in the wild but growing in a coffee can at a hotel lobby in the 1950s. A histologist staying somewhere in Northern Coahuila spotted it and sent photos to a botanist who persuaded the hotel operator to send them specimens. This species is easy to grow on graft and can be watered sparingly throughout the year. You may receive the same plant or one similar to the plant shown.
