This reptilian cacti is a master of disguise in its native Mexico, where its sunken stems grow level to the surface and blend in with the surrounding limestone chips. The plant is most notable for its flattened tubercles that overlap and almost resemble scales. A touchy species that grows and flowers much easier when grafted to another cactus as seen on the sale plant.
