Imdugud, the fearsome Mesopotamian god of storms and thunder who brings chaos and destruction upon the wicked, is depicted here flaunting his handbag like it’ll never go out of style. It appears in stone reliefs made by the ancient Assyrians of Iraq, in Egyptian hieroglyphs, in the ruins of Turkish temples, in decorations made by the ancient Maori of New Zealand, and by the Olmecs of Central America.
