Revered as the mother of titans and of all life on Earth, Gaia’s story gets interesting when she enlists the help of her son Cronos to castrate her husband Uranus (who also happens to be her son and sibling). Upon castration, Uranus’ genital blood fell to Earth to create the Furies and the Giants, and his severed testicles were cast into the ocean where they mixed with seafoam to give birth to Aphrodite, the goddess of love.
